The
development and growth of a quality theatre program, capable
of preparing all students to demonstrate the Texas Essential
Knowledge and Skills in theatre, depends on a comprehensive
process of evaluating and defining program characteristics.
Theatre teachers, supervisors, coordinators, principals, and
other campus and district administrators should participate
in the process of program evaluation. Information from this
process can be used to strengthen theatre programs.
- Are
theatre classes regularly scheduled and available to every
student?
- Are
the Theatre TEKS the foundation of classroom activities,
instruction, and student assessment? Describe how teachers
use the TEKS in planning and implementing instruction.
- Are
theatre curricula aligned with the Theatre TEKS at each
grade and course level?
- Are
instructional materials, classroom activities, and teaching
strategies aligned with the Theatre TEKS and local curriculum?
- How
does student assessment in the theatre measure or demonstrate
the student expectations outlined in the TEKS?
- Describe
how current course offerings meet the needs and interests
of students. How do they achieve the goals of the Theatre
TEKS?
- How
does the school's program structure and content retain students
in theatre programs?
- How
are tools of technology used to increase student learning
of theatre content?
- How
do physical classroom facilities support quality teaching
and learning in each of the theatre areas?
